County Uppy
Context
When my oldest child was 3 years old I decided I wanted to make a simple card game that both he and I could enjoy by the time he was 5 or 6. I quickly found the idea of a simple counting game where you are trying to get the count to 16 as many times as possible to be the last player to get knocked out of the game. I named it County Uppy.
After successfully completing the initial design and printing out professional copies to family and friends, I began to set my eyes on refining County Uppy and expanding its audience. For that I took to polling people on Discord, Reddit, and in person. The feedback I got was critical to understanding what people felt the game was trying to be versus what it currently was. It was also helpful in making the game more color-blind friendly.
On top of designing the game, I created a web-app calculator players could use to easily track and manage the counting. Perfect for playing when you’re tired or inebriated.
